Address on the occasion of the Roma Holocaust Remembrance Day
From the beginning of August to the end of September, we honor the memory of innocent men, women, and children who were tortured during World War II because of the Nazi policy of ethnocide. On August 2, the world commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Roma genocide. Commemorative events with the participation of high-ranking international representatives and Roma organizations took place in the former Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.

Look and Do Not Ever Forget: the 80th Anniversary of the Mass Murder of Roma in Auschwitz-Birkenau C
August 2 is a day of remembrance for all the more than 500,000 Sinti and Roma who were killed in Nazi-occupied Europe. On this date, a commemorative ceremony is held at the site of the executions of Roma in Auschwitz-Birkenau. The Dikh He Na Bister (Look and Don't Forget) commemoration project gathers hundreds of participants from all over Europe. Young people from different countries study, learn about unknown pages of history, visit memorial sites and honor the dead.

The 17th meeting of the Council of Europe's Dialogue with Roma and Traveller Civil Society is dedicated to the history of Roma and Travellers, as well as to memory, recognition and education about the Roma Holocaust. Challenges in this area include the fact that the history of Roma and Travellers is not reflected in education, and most educational materials ignore the Roma Holocaust.

On Romani Resistance Day, May 16, Berlin hosted an educational event "Roma in Ukraine – Fighters for Democracy, Human Rights and Justice" dedicated to the Roma resistance and the importance of Roma in Ukraine during the Russian aggression.
Statement by Roma and pro-Roma civil society
We are deeply concerned about the public statements made by Mr. Viktor Andrusiv, a former advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, during an interview. In his statement, Mr. Andrusiv used offensive language that reinforces negative stereotypes, comparing citizens who evade conscription in Ukraine to Roma.
