Open Call: Summer School on Human Rights & Roma Youth Advocacy

The Youth Agency for the Advocacy of Roma Culture “ARCA” invites young people from Ukraine and Germany to take part in a 5-day Summer School dedicated to human rights, activism, and youth-led change.

About the Summer School

This Summer School offers a unique opportunity for young people to deepen their understanding of human rights and learn how to take action against injustice.

Participants will explore Roma history and contemporary realities, including Antigypsyism and the genocide of Roma, and connect these issues to broader discussions on decolonisation and social justice.

During the Summer School, Participants Will:

  • Learn about the foundations and relevance of human rights today;

  • Explore Roma history and present-day challenges;

  • Understand the links between decolonisation, Roma rights, and social justice;

  • Gain practical skills to identify and report hate speech online;

  • Develop competencies in digital activism and online safety;

  • Work in teams to design a human rights microproject and plan its implementation.

Who Can Apply?

We are looking for motivated young people who:

  • Are 18–30 years old;

  • Are Roma and non-Roma from Ukraine and Germany;

  • Are interested in human rights and Roma rights;

  • Have experience in activism, community work, or a strong motivation to get involved;

  • Can communicate in English (minimum B1 level);

  • Are ready to remain engaged after the Summer School and implement a microproject over the following four months, with financial support provided.

After the application deadline, shortlisted candidates will be invited to a short online interview as part of the selection process.
