"Romanis must be included in the processes of Ukraine’s Reconstruction", – Volodymyr Yakovenko
A meeting took place in Kyiv between the Chairman of the Board of the ARKA Youth Agency on Romani Culture Advocacy and the Delegation of the European Union in Kyiv and representatives of the Embassies of European Countries.
Within this meeting, the following matters were discussed: the general condition of the Romani minority in Ukraine and the participation of representatives of embassies in the international conference scheduled for the autumn this year, entitled “Inclusion of Romani Ethnic Minority and other Minorities in the process of Ukraine’s Reconstruction”.
"In the course of Reconstruction of Ukraine, we have seen pressing matters and issues pertaining to ethnic minorities, including Romani, coming onto the agenda. It is important to include Romanis in reconstruction processes. Romanis should be able to resolve certain issues, in view of a number of reasons. The new state policy, however, should be formed in a way, so that each ethnic minority be able to feel needed and be able to count on the state’s support», – noted Volodymyr Yakovenko, Director of ARKA.
