About us
Youth Agency for the Advocacy of Roma Culture “ARCA” is a Roma youth non-governmental organization that has been working in the public sector of Ukraine since 2018, focusing its efforts on the development of the Roma youth movement, support and preservation of Roma history and culture, as well as building intercultural dialogue in Ukraine.
Our mission is to promote a positive image of Roma communities in Ukrainian society through education, media, history and culture.

Don't stop: a year of working in uncertain conditions
The past year has been another year of trials, endurance, and responsibility for all of us. Amidst full-scale war, constant uncertainty, and social change, the team at ARKA, the Youth Agency for the Advocacy of Romani Culture, continued to do what it considers its main task: working to strengthen the voice of the Romani community and protect its rights.

Christmas is a holiday of kindness, warmth, and belief in miracles. It is a time when we pause to be with our loved ones, remember what is important, and think about the future. For Roma and Ukrainians, this holiday has much in common: family circle, light in the home, hope in the heart, and dreams that we want to cherish.
Roma rights and the challenges of war: results of a discussion in Berlin
A round table discussion entitled “Roma Inclusion in Focus: Strengthening Partnerships between Ukraine and Germany” was held in Berlin. The main topics of discussion were the rights and needs of Roma in Ukraine, as well as the situation of Roma refugees from Ukraine in Germany. Participants discussed issues of equal participation, combating anti-Gypsyism, access to social and humanitarian programs, and the need to develop sustainable international partnerships.

AURA: платформа для самоорганізації і захисту прав ромської спільноти за кордоном
Наприкінці минулого року у Берліні відбувся круглий стіл «Ромська інклюзія у фокусі: зміцнення партнерства між Україною та Німеччиною», який був організований Молодіжною агенцією з адвокації ромської культури «АРКА» та Центральною радою німецьких сінті та ромів у співпраці з Товариством народів під загрозою, Українським ромським адвокаційним альянсом (AURA) та Євангелічною академією в Берліні. Подія відбулася за підтримки Федерального міністерства закордонних справ Німеччини та Українського жіночого фонду. У заході взяли участь політики, представники державних інституцій та громадянського суспільства України та Німеччини. Основною темою дискусії стали права та потреби ромів в Україні, а також становище ромів-біженців з України у Німеччині. Під час заходу відбулась і презентація Українського ромського адвокаційного альянсу (AURA). Членкинею правління цієї організації стала Сара Райнке, яка є керівницею берлінського офісу правозахисної організації «Товариство захисту народів, що перебувають під загрозою», і яка багато років працює з темами геноциду, дискримінації та міжнародної адвокації.

2 серпня - одна з найважливіших дат для ромів. Адже вона про спротив, боротьбу та опір режиму. Саме 2 серпня щороку в Україні ромські спільноти збираються у місці трагедії Бабиному Яру, аби разом вшанувати і згадати пам'ять тих, кого немає.

Новий рік і Різдво – це час спілкування, коли ромські родини збираються разом, діляться подарунками, бажають один одному благополуччя. Ромські свята відомі своєю тривалістю, щедрістю та насиченістю традиціями, що об'єднують родини та громади. Про новорічні та різдвяні традиції, а також звичаї та страви на Новий рік, Святвечір та Різдво в інтерв’ю для «Жянес» розповіли: Галина Сіладі - громадська активістка, заступниця голови громадської організації «Терне Рома», Віллі Пап-молодший – громадський діяч, композитор, музикант, заслужений працівник культури України і Тімея Шрек – письменниця із Закарпаття, викладачка Берегівської гімназії «Опре Рома».

Remembering Together: International Summer School on Roma History in Berlin
From June 10 to 15, the Youth Agency for Roma Culture Advocacy (ARCA) in cooperation with the Society for Threatened Peoples hosted the international Summer School on Roma History, “Remembering Together” in Berlin .The project was funded by the EVZ Foundation and the Federal Foreign Office as part of the program YOUNG PEOPLE remember international. Bringing together 12 participants from across Europe and Ukraine, the program offered a unique opportunity to study and reflect on the tragic history of Roma and Sinti in the 20th century, with a particular focus on the genocide during the Second World War.
Thematic-Narrative Exhibition “The Invisible”
The Invisible. Resilience: Past and Present of the Roma is a thematic-narrative exhibition about the return of visibility. Once muted, Roma voices today speak boldly, distinctly, and with a rightful claim to equality. At the heart of the exhibition is Roma identity as a form of resistance traced through history: from persecution during the genocide of the Roma in World War II to the strength, visibility, and civic engagement of Roma communities in Ukraine today.

Проєкт гуманітарної та освітньої підтримки у Полтавській та Дніпропетровській областях АРКА за підтримки Українського Жіночого Фонду реалізує програму комплексної підтримки ромських громад. Проєкт спрямований на покращення якості життя, доступу до медицини та розширення можливостей для ромських родин, жінок і молоді у Полтавській та Дніпропетровській областях.
