About us
Youth Agency for the Advocacy of Roma Culture “ARCA” is a Roma youth non-governmental organization that has been working in the public sector of Ukraine since 2018, focusing its efforts on the development of the Roma youth movement, support and preservation of Roma history and culture, as well as building intercultural dialogue in Ukraine.
Our mission is to promote a positive image of Roma communities in Ukrainian society through education, media, history and culture.

Open Call: Summer School on Human Rights & Roma Youth Advocacy
The Youth Agency for the Advocacy of Roma Culture “ARCA” invites young people from Ukraine and Germany to take part in a 5-day Summer School dedicated to human rights, activism, and youth-led change.

ARСA presented its experience in preserving Romani oral history at a symposium in Yale
On April 12, Yale University hosted a symposium that brought together researchers, activists, and artists working on topics related to Romani history, culture, human rights, and memory. One of the key sections focused on the genocide of Roma and the preservation of oral history.

Януш Оґли: життя за Україну
Повномасштабна війна РФ проти України, яка триває вже п'ятий рік, спонукала багатьох ромів стати на захист країни. Роми активно беруть участь в обороні та виборюванні незалежності і свободи України, служачи в лавах Збройних Сил України. Точної офіційної статистики щодо кількості представників ромської спільноти в армії немає. Але, за оцінками експертів та громадських активістів, у лавах ЗСУ захищають Україну від однієї до кількох тисяч ромів. Багато з них воюють на передовій з початку повномасштабного вторгнення. Окрім служби — значна частина ромської спільноти займається волонтерством та допомагає українській армії. Служба руйнує усі можливі стереотипи, підкреслюючи спільну боротьбу за майбутнє держави. У медіа-проєкті «Жянес» ми розповідаємо історії ромів на фронті, чимало з яких пішли на захист України добровольцями. Розповідаємо про ромів-військових, ромів-ветеранів, волонтерів і волонтерок, демонструючи їхній внесок у перемогу. Сьогодні — про внесок ціною в життя…

Fundraising campaign for the project “Preserving the Oral History of the Roma Genocide in Ukraine”
Witnesses to the Roma genocide in Ukraine are among the few people in Europe who have survived two wars on the same land: World War II and today's Russian invasion of Ukraine. Their lives connect history with the present. Supporting these people is not only humanitarian aid, it is an act of justice. The initiative is led by the third generation of Roma witnesses, who care for the generation of their grandparents. The initiative is a manifestation of responsibility, intergenerational solidarity, and living memory.
Safeguarding Oral History of the Genocide of Roma in Ukraine
Safeguarding Oral History of the Genocide of Roma in Ukraine is an ongoing project dedicated to documenting, preserving, and safeguarding the oral histories of Roma genocide survivors in Ukraine. The project focuses on the collection and digitalization of survivor testimonies and the development of a unique methodology for recording oral history under conditions of ongoing war.
Remembering Together: International Summer School on Roma History in Berlin
From June 10 to 15, the Youth Agency for Roma Culture Advocacy (ARCA) in cooperation with the Society for Threatened Peoples hosted the international Summer School on Roma History, “Remembering Together” in Berlin .The project was funded by the EVZ Foundation and the Federal Foreign Office as part of the program YOUNG PEOPLE remember international. Bringing together 12 participants from across Europe and Ukraine, the program offered a unique opportunity to study and reflect on the tragic history of Roma and Sinti in the 20th century, with a particular focus on the genocide during the Second World War.
