About us
Youth Agency for the Advocacy of Roma Culture “ARCA” is a Roma youth non-governmental organization that has been working in the public sector of Ukraine since 2018, focusing its efforts on the development of the Roma youth movement, support and preservation of Roma history and culture, as well as building intercultural dialogue in Ukraine.
Our mission is to promote a positive image of Roma communities in Ukrainian society through education, media, history and culture.

Romani Artist Natali Tomenko: “Art Provides a New Perspective on This Time”
Nataliia Tomenko is a researcher and expert in the cultural heritage of the Romani people. She is a human rights advocate, a leader of the Romani youth movement in Ukraine, and the deputy director of the Youth Agency for the Advocacy of Roma Culture “ARCA” in Ukraine. In addition to her human rights and administrative work, Natali is also engaged in visual arts. She is of Romani descent and operates within the discourse of Ukrainian civil society. Roma in Ukraine – Fighters for Democracy, Human Rights and Justice: Heidelberg, 3-4 December 2024
The event titled “Roma in Ukraine – Fighters for Democracy, Human Rights, and Justice” aims to raise awareness about these realities and to challenge the biases and stereotypes surrounding the Roma community. It is important to highlight that not all Roma individuals share the same experiences, and many do not conform to prevalent prejudices. Through the event program includes an exhibition, film screening, and discussions, and will showcase the diversity of the Roma community and their contributions to democracy, human rights, and justice. This initiative seeks to enhance understanding among policymakers and the general public, fostering greater recognition of the Roma communities.
Roma and Post-War Ukraine: from acceptance to participation on equal terms
Modern-day Ukrainian society has to become fully aware of the fact that Roma constitute an integral part of our country. The contribution of the Roma community into Ukraine’s struggle for its freedom and independence, the incessant support for humanitarian initiatives prove that the reconstruction of Ukraine is not possible without the active participation of the Roma community.This was the topic of the international conference entitled «Restoration of Ukraine and Civil Society Prospects for Ukrainian Roma»

The International Conference “Recovery of Ukraine and the Perspective of Ukrainian Roma Civil Society” is scheduled for October 30, 2024, in Kyiv. This event represents another important step in promoting and fostering the role of Roma as an integral part of Ukraine. Additionally, there will be a round table discussion with Ukrainian Roma civil society on October 31 in Kyiv.
