Our guest: Professor Kiuchukov, one of the most prominent Romani scientists, a specialist in the Romani language and education of Romani children, Doctor of Pedagogic and Philologic Sciences.
«In Bulgarian schools, children were often oppressed for their insufficient command of the Bulgarian language. They were sent to specialised education institution, effectively isolating them from learning», — says Professor Kiuchukov in our podcast.
He recounted what kind of problems Romani children faced in Bulgarian schools, exacerbated by the oppression by the Communist regime in the past. It were these particular challenges that urged him to build his career as an academic researcher in the realm of pedagogics and psycholinguistics.
