Training “Roma Media School ‘Djanes’
One of the goals of our work is to create a positive presence of the Ukrainian Roma community in the broader information space by empowering its youth leaders, artistic talents and media activists.
That is why ARСA created the media project “Djanes”. A special training was held within its framework.
This initiative is extremely important, because Ukrainian Roma youth do not have a single platform that could
- be an information resource where they could learn about current news, opportunities, competitions, etc;
- learn more about their own history and culture;
- broadcast their civic position at the community, local, and national levels;
- to form a positive image of their community and disseminate truthful information;
- create and disseminate educational and visual content;
- fight antigypsyism and discrimination.
The participants completed an internship on the information platform under the guidance of experienced journalists and gained knowledge in the field of media communications, journalism and creative industries.
After the training, the participants gained general knowledge of media literacy, as well as practical skills in creating and disseminating information content, lobbying for the interests of Roma youth and the community as a whole.
