Independence of Ukraine: Strength in Diversity

Aug. 24, 2025 Officially

Independence Day of Ukraine is a special celebration. It carries within it the legacy of centuries of resistance and the longing to live freely on our own land.

Yet throughout these centuries, we have faced the same enemy—one that repeatedly attempts to break our freedom and will to live. But despite all challenges, we stand strong—united, diverse, and indivisible.

Independence arises where there is respect for every person. For different languages, cultures, traditions, and ethnic backgrounds. Ukraine draws its strength from this diversity, because it holds the essence of unity. Roma and Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars and Jews, Armenians, Bulgarians, and representatives of many other peoples are standing together to defend our common home, bring victory closer, and protect our future.

In contrast to our values, the enemy seeks to impose uniformity—silencing, stripping people of rights, and erasing identities. Where we defend the right to be different, they try to eliminate differences, leaving only submission and fear.

Independence is not an abstract word. It is the right to speak one’s native language, to preserve one’s traditions, to raise one’s flag, and to call our children Ukrainians. And we defend this right together—at the cost of tremendous effort, sacrifice, and faith.

Independence is a struggle. And today, we are fighting for it—together.
