Don't stop: a year of working in uncertain conditions

Dec. 31, 2025 Officially

The past year has been another year of trials, endurance, and responsibility for all of us. Amidst full-scale war, constant uncertainty, and social change, the team at ARKA, the Youth Agency for the Advocacy of Romani Culture, continued to do what it considers its main task: working to strengthen the voice of the Romani community and protect its rights.

Throughout the year, we implemented cultural, educational, and advocacy initiatives, talked about Roma history and the present day, countered anti-Gypsyism and stereotypes, and created spaces for dialogue and mutual understanding. We worked in Ukraine and beyond, responded to new challenges, and supported the community at a time when vulnerability is only increasing.

It was important for us not only to talk about problems, but also to seek solutions — together with communities, experts, artists, activists, researchers, journalists, and everyone who cares about human rights and equality. This year has confirmed once again that lasting change is only possible when there are people who are willing to listen, ask questions, and take action.

We sincerely thank everyone who has been with us throughout this year: readers of our website, participants in events, those who came to discussions, performances, round tables, those who shared our materials, asked uncomfortable but necessary questions, and supported our work. Your attention and participation give meaning to what we do.

A new year and new challenges lie ahead. But we are convinced that moving forward, defending the dignity, rights, and visibility of the Roma community is only possible together. We will continue to work to ensure that Roma culture, experience, and voice are heard loud and clear, and that society becomes more open, fair, and united.

Thank you for being with us this year. We believe that you will remain with us in the coming year.
