ARCA implements a humanitarian support program for the Roma community
In Kryvyi Rih, Roma families received certificates to purchase food and essential goods. This initiative is part of a broader humanitarian and educational support program for Roma communities in the Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk regions, implemented by the organization with the support of the Ukrainian Women’s Fund.
The program aims to improve the quality of life for Roma families, ensure access to healthcare, and expand opportunities for women and youth.
How it happened in Kryvyi Rih
In Kryvyi Rih, more than 60 participants were selected to receive certificates. According to the program's terms, one representative from each family was eligible, with priority given to large families, military personnel or veterans, elderly people who survived the genocide during the Second World War, single mothers, persons with disabilities, and those in difficult life circumstances.
Those who received the assistance emphasized their need for support and shared what they planned to purchase.
“I really need this help because sometimes it’s very hard. Thanks to the certificates, I can buy the essentials—for example, baby items and diapers for my youngest daughter. She’s five months old now, and I have four children in total. I’m very grateful for this support. It’s rare nowadays to see such sincere help. My husband and I talked about this initiative, and he also said it was incredibly heartwarming to receive this kind of assistance.
I know there’s an opportunity to take courses, for example, to become a manicurist. But for now, I can’t participate because the baby is too small, and I simply have no one to leave her with. Still, I would really like to have this opportunity in the future,” said Madonna.
